Principal's Message
Dear Los Altos Families,

Welcome Bulldogs!  I am very excited about opening up the 2016-2017 school year. This is my fourth year here in the South Whittier School District. I am very proud of the accomplishments of our school community. Last year, funds were raised to paint two school murals. The mural in the MPR features the school's mascots Buddy and Bella the Bulldogs; and the other mural in the quad represents our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies) rules. These rules are be responsible, be respectful, be safe, be kind, and be helpful.

Los Altos state test have arrived! Our school raised CAASPP test scores by 17% in English Language Arts and 16% in Math. Our CELDT (California English Language Development) scores increased by 17%. We are thrilled about this progress and are committed to continuous improvement. We attribute this achievement to our program alignment to Common Core Standards; and a clear and shared school focus.

I believe a strong home-school connection ensures the best education possible.  As such, parents are always welcome and encouraged to volunteer, attend school events, assemblies, and to become an active member of PTA. We also encourage business partners to join us in our efforts to educate leaders of the future.

Please feel free to contact me, if you are interested in becoming involved. I can be reached at (562) 941-3711 or you may email me at [email protected]
Sincerely,

Dr. Marti Tienda-Ayala
